RedBull Rampage 2021

 Pure adrenaline on the bike

The RedBull Rampage was once again the event of the year for lovers of risk, adrenaline and passion for maximum risk sports.

RedBull Rampage 2021

Held last October 15 in Utah (United States of America), the rampage was once again the most outstanding event for mountain bike riders. An event where the best riders in the world were looking to do their best downhill combining skill and tricks, while riding down the terrifying trails and obstacles of the majestic RedBull Rampage mountain. The same mountain that has been celebrating this same event since 2001, where it gathers the best riders and all the spectators who love adrenaline and extreme sports.
This year the event has gathered the best 15 riders of the moment to fight for the Rampage title. The most desired championship for every lover and rider of downhill biking.
After all the wonderful descents and some crashes between the different contestants, finally the Canadian Brandon Semenuk would become the winner of the event and the first rider to win this event four times. The athlete showed different tricks not usual for this kind of competition and thanks to his good execution of them he was crowned on the Rampage mountain.

Here you can watch the descent that crowned on the top of the podium to Brandon Semenuk:

Unfortunately the event had a not very pleasant event for the public, as they saw how the athlete Tom van Steenbergen suffered a major accident while making his descent, forcing him to leave the event to be immediately operated in the hospital, an operation that would last about eight hours where he would be intervened of multiple fractures in his right and left hip, the upper part of the femur, a lower vertebra and shoulder.
Even so, the day for the athlete would end with good news when he found out that he would receive the award for the best trick of the event. Winning the award thanks to what many people would describe the trick as "The biggest flat-drop front flip we've ever seen".

Best trick video

Finally the day ended as every year with the desire to continue enjoying this event and looking forward to next year to see again the athletes show their best skills and tricks they have prepared during the year for this event.

  1. It's a very interesting and good article. I've been watching Red Bull rampage on youtube for a while, it seems very enjoyable but also dangerous. I would like to try it one day.-Bertan Levi

  2. I didn't know about Red Bull Rampage before this article, but the only thing I can think of when watching the video is "why would anybody want to do that???". But therefore it is an extreme sport! I have huge respect for the performances of these athletes. It's extremely difficult to try this kind of sports. I think they are not recognized enough for their actions. They deserve a bigger podium and to be more famous!

    1. Hello Jesse!! I can give you two reasons for your question.
The first one is because there is nothing better than the adrenaline after the descent and the second one is the desire to do what you like the most.

  3. It's sad that an athlete got injured during the competition. But at least these days are not in danger. The organizers are not doing research to create protective suits? Like for example in exoskeleton or something that will protect the athletes...

    1. Nowadays, the competition committee is implementing more and more safety in the circuits as well as in the riders' clothing to avoid injuries and serious accidents. But it is also the grace of extreme sports, take your body to the limit taking many risks and for that reason they are called risky.

  5. Really nice and interesting article because i have friends that practice this type of sport and i think that is really hard to do. They told me that they learn to practice thise sport breaking lot of bones of their body. So you have to be very carefull because maybe one leg or arm it's ok, but if you damage your neck for example can be the end of your life. It's nice to see this races, but you need to be very carefull all the time if you practice that.

I think this is an incredible article! I have great respect for all these athletes who risk their lives and perform these extreme barbarities. Since I was a child I have been a big fan of these sports and I have always been impressed by doing different jumps. Little by little this competition has become very famous and I am sure that it will become much more famous in the future.

  7. I honestly had no idea that this rampage was often held.
It's good to see that Red Bull continues to give a lot of spotlight to these post-pandemic events, celebrating the adrenaline and passion that many have for high-risk sports.
Sad about Tom van Steenbergen's accident, hope he recovers soon!
