Get to know five of the best Xtreme Sports Athletes of all time
Among the hundreds of athletes who practice risky sports, there are some who stand out for their achievements and performances in front of spectators in their respective sports. Here we can get to know five of the best extreme sports athletes of all time.
Travis Pastrana
The Maryland-born athlete is known for his great achievements in various forms of motorsports.
An athlete who throughout his career has pushed his body to the limit in order to achieve his greatest accomplishments. After all the injuries that could have ended the athlete's life or left him in a wheelchair for life, Travis would get up from each one to try again that trick or activity that months before had put him out of action. His character to overcome and never give up despite the obstacles has led him to win 11 gold medals at the Xgames in motorcycle freestyle and four medals at the RedBull X-fighters, two of the most prominent events for this form of motorcycling. In these events he achieved many "world firsts", giving this name to all the tricks that he managed to do first, such as the famous double backflip or the 360 on top of the bike.

He is also known for being one of the few athletes to participate in more than one modality, since he competed with the Subaru car brand in different rallies around the world.
Today, Travis is dedicated to organizing extreme sport events for the Nitro Circus company created by the main star and actor of the MTV Jackass series, Johnny Knoxville. Events where they bring together the best athletes to give the best show possible to extreme sport enthusiasts and fans.

The famous California skater who has become the idol of every child or adult who practices this sport. He started skateboarding at the age of nine thanks to his brother who bought him his first skateboard. Since then Tony has become a legend for the sport, thanks to all his accomplishments and tricks he has created that every skater wants to practice.
Thanks to having the mind of an adult trapped in a child's body, he was able to do many tricks that require a lot of skill for an older person, those accomplishments led him to become a professional skateboarder at the age of 12 and finally at the age of 14 and at the age of 16 Tony Hawk was the best skateboarder in the world, being in the Bones Brigade team.
By 2004, Tony Hawk had already won 10 competitions and invented numerous maneuvers on the skateboard. In 1985, he landed the first "720°" (2 full turns), and in 1999, he became the first skateboarder to land the first "900º" ( 2.5 turns).

The surfer Bethany Hamilton, the youngest of three siblings, was born in Hawaii in 1990 and since she was only 4 years old she started surfing. Her career began at a very young age, achieving several titles on the island's circuit and the sponsorship of the Rip Curl surfboards brand. But an accident would change her life completely. When she was 11 years old, Bethany went surfing with the Blanchard family, which belongs to her best friend until now, Alana Blanchard. That morning of surfing would change her life completely, when a tiger shark attacked her, ripping off her left arm and causing her to lose so much blood that the surfer could have died in that same break that morning.

Lindsey Vonn is an American skier born in Minnesota, known for her achievements such as her Olympic Gold Medal (3 Medals in total), her 2 World Championships (8 Medals in total), champion of 4 World Cup Generals (and 16 World Cups in different disciplines) and has 82 wins in the Alpine Skiing World Cup (with a total of 130 podiums).

Despite being one of the youngest athletes on the circuit, Austrian cyclist Fabio Wibmer has become one of the sensations of the present extreme sports thanks to the content he uploads weekly to his social networks both on Instagram and YouTube.
In these videos he shows both the preparation of his achievements and the execution of them, making him the sensation of the moment in all kinds of events related to bicycles.
At the age of 19 he entered the Redbull Academy to practice and start competing in official events for the company. Thanks to this union has helped him to achieve great goals in his career as having his own brand of sports equipment or have their own line of bikes within the Canyon brand.
Recently he has been away from racing due to a motorcycle accident he suffered last year, but as he always says in his videos he will come back stronger and learn from every crash he had in the past.

Interesting entry! I didn't know all these athletes and they are doing such a great and risky job! I remember watching the film Soul Surfer and I found extremely fascinating the fact that the girl didn't give up and kept fighting for her dreams. It trurly shows the meaning of sport and I think she should be awarded for what she is doing.

ResponEliminaSkiing is very popular sport in Croatia where I am from, and I am big skiing fan. I always followed Lindsey Von and her achievements and she is a real role model who achieved so much in her career and did not give up in hard times.
Travis Pastana impresses me. He reminds me of Niki Lauda, may he rest in peace. They never gave up even when faced with the risk of losing their lives or even their health. I maintain, these men are made of metal that's why they inspire us !

What impresses me the most is that they practice Xtreme sports because they have a passion for it and most of them would die for it. The athlete that caught my attention the most is the surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm because of a shark attack. And she still surfing with only one arm! That is mental.
ResponEliminaI really used to practice skate, and that is one of the things that i enjoy the most in the summer. Tony Hawk is one of my referents and see what he did in his career is really motivating to me. It's impressive how at the age that he is, he still practising skating and few years ago, compiting at the Xtreme competition. Very mental health to still doing that at his age!

Her story is amazing and serves as an example of how much these athletes love the sports they play and try to overcome all their traumas and problems to be able to continue playing.

Interesting article full of information. I didn't know about any of this athletes but im impressed about them and glad that now I know about them. The athlete that most caught my attention was Bethany Hamilton. With her story we realize the love and enthusiasm for sports, which for me is the key to be good in whatever you practice. I bet many people in her case will abandon surfing after her accident and live annoyed with life but her in the contrary didn´t give up and managed to be good again and become champion.
